Canberra Airport’s minimalist interior is in stark contrast with the imposing bronze sculpture created by Australian sculptor Andrew Rogers. The figurative sculpture – Australia’s largest – was installed in 2012. Weighing 3.8 tonnes and standing at 7.5 metres tall, it was commissioned by the Snow family, joining a number of other commissioned artworks dotted around the airport. Says Canberra Airport managing director Stephen Byron: “People coming to Canberra ought to have their spirits lifted and be inspired on arrival in the national capital; this structure will take their breath away.” See this sculpture and the rest of the national collection, in Canberra.
