Working in her signature airbrush style, Sydney-based artist Fiona Lowry re-creates the fleeting yet sublime experience of being immersed in the Australian bush. This cinematic scene, presented across two canvases, provides a mere fragment of an unknown narrative in an anxious space. The naked and vulnerable human form is presented as the artist questions our fractured relationship with the land and one another. As the people move away and towards one another, The Ties That Bind explores the “ambiguity of paranoia in a beautiful setting”.
