2010, glass, steel and LEDs. Photograph by Adam McGrath and Canberra Glassworks.

A sabre-like beam of light projects upwards into the Canberra sky atop the former Kingston Powerhouse, the heritage building now home to the Canberra Glassworks, Australia’s largest contemporary glass art cultural centre. Installed by internationally renowned artist Warren Langley in 2010, the imposing artwork connects the new use of the building with the old. It features glass, steel and light-emitting diodes. The Canberra Glassworks provides visitors with the opportunity to meet glass artists and see quality and innovative glassmaking in action – skills for which Australia’s glass artists are renowned here and internationally.
